Home Insurance
Let VIG help you protect what you value most.

Home Insurance Coverage
The purpose of insurance is to protect you against losses. Few people have the financial resources to rebuild their homes. In addition to protecting your home and possessions, homeowners insurance also provides liability coverage to protect you from financial ruin if someone is injured on your property and sues for damages.
Coverage
You can buy a policy that covers only your house, but most homeowners buy a policy that combines additional coverages:
Dwelling coverage pays for damage to your house
Personal property pays for items in your house or possibly away from your house.
Liability & Medical coverage are available in varying limits.
Take Inventory of Your Property
Many people learn after a fire or storm that they did not have enough personal property coverage. Making a written inventory will help you decide how much insurance you need. It will also simplify claims.
Your inventory should list each major item, its purchase date, value, and serial number. Photograph or videotape each room, including closets, open drawers, storage buildings, and garage. Keep the inventory and receipts for major items in a fireproof place or another location.

Compare Policies
Not all homeowner’s insurance policies are created equal. There are different policy types which is part of the reason why the pricing can be so different from one insurance carrier to the next. We recommend comparing policy coverage on an independent website: The Office of Public Insurance Counsel http://www.opic.state.tx.us/hoic.php
We recommend you read your policy carefully to know whether it offers replacement cost coverage or actual cash value coverage.
